Five eggs were wrapped in tissue paper which does not have color-fast dye (“bleeding” tissue paper) wet and left to dry overnight. Once dry the paper was removed and the eggs looked like they had been tie-dyed. Ten eggs were done with so-called “lava dye” which uses only dye tablets, vinegar, and lava powder, no water. The mixture bubbles and foams and the eggs get a rich beautiful color in seconds! The third set of eggs were all dyed with natural dyes: the green is matcha powder, the yellow –was turmeric, and the orange – was paprika. The darkest eggs were colored with grape juice.
