Emotional and mental well-being are important aspects of this year’s #BlackHistoryMonth theme, “Black Health and Wellness.”
“Honoring ‘Black Health and Wellness’ is significant as it can continue the important work of removing the stigma of mental health from many Black communities,” said Nefertiti B. Poyner, Ed.D., early childhood specialist and national trainer at @DevereuxCRC. “Asking for help is one of the most important characteristics a person can possess. People can begin to understand it is OK to seek the support of a trained, culturally responsive professional who can help heal generational curses, teach us how to forgive and learn to fully love ourselves.”
