Kent Falls State Park
~ David Dunleavy
Driving along Route 7 in northern Kent, it’s nearly impossible not to notice Kent Falls State Park. Kent Falls, is actually a series of spectacular falls that drop 250 feet, creating a brook that feeds the mighty Housatonic River. The brook is a favorite destination for anglers and a prime breeding area for brown trout. In 1919 the State of Connecticut received a gift of 200 acres, which included the falls, from the White Memorial Foundation. In the 1970s, an extensive trail network was built including steps that lead to the top of the falls.
