Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Mental Health Month (July) was created to bring awareness to the struggles underrepresented groups face when it comes to mental illness. According to @mentalhealthamerica, this year’s theme – “culture, community and connection” – focuses on pillars that support/uplift BIPOC individuals when the dangers of oppression and systemic racism threaten the environments where BIPOC individuals live, work, play and thrive.
