Students experience community and culture on Philadelphia trip

The weekend of April 25, Ms. Grove and Ms. Platt had the opportunity to bring Enzo G, Lucas D, Patrick B, Max B, Harrison T and Allafia B to Philadelphia for some historical sight seeing and volunteer work. The students earned community service time by removing invasive species and planting trees with the Wissahickon restoration volunteers. In addition they were able to volunteer at the Philadelphia Zoo Earth Day celebration where they helped children from the community learn about earth preservation, recycling, and building habitats for amphibians. They were also able to see many historical landmarks such as the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the Constitution Center as well as taking in a Phillies game. The students had a great time exploring the city and showed great enthusiasm while volunteering.
