A Hot Topic: Global Warming

On Tuesday, January 20, students enjoyed an engaging hour-long presentation “Understanding Global Warming” from Connecticut native and meteorologist Art Horn. The presentation focused mainly on a meteorological perspective of the cycles of the global climate and the impact these changes have on all life on the planet.

In his first presentation, Horn spoke about the weather and weather phenomenon. The second presentations explored global warming and whether it is due to human impact or if it is a natural, long-term climatic phenomenon. The kids had a great time listening to a different viewpoint. After the presentation they also asked intelligent and well thought out questions.

Students Creighton H, Enzo G, Tom H and Sarah P also had the opportunity to have lunch with Horn and talk more about the weather. Horn was very impressed with how polite the students were during the luncheon and the presentations, even when they were disagreeing with him or asking for clarification.
