In 1968, the gift of Glenholme was given to the Devereux Foundation in the form of the buildings and property in Washington, CT. Since that time, families, neighbors, foundations and corporations have helped to provide individualized education and treatment to students with special needs through their financial gifts.

Ways to Give

Our mission is to advance the school's mission and program offerings to provide students with special needs the opportunities and experiences that guide them to a fulfilling and happy adulthood, both socially and academically.

Thank you for your interest in supporting children at The Glenholme School through our online giving program. There are several ways you can help.

If you would like to visit our campus or speak to someone about how you can make a difference in our students' lives, please contact us at 860-868-7377 or email the Development Office.

Capital Giving - Gymnasium Expansion

The gymnasium is an essential multipurpose community location, often the heartbeat of any school; a gathering space for students and faculty, the recreational landscape of school and after-school activities. The improvement of this facility, with climate control and expanded bleachers, will provide a suitable venue for the present program offerings and potential future growth, as well as allow for proper seating and improve safety for onlookers and supportive parents.

Gifts to the Capital Giving Fund - Gymnasium Expansion will have an enormously positive impact on campus athletics and recreational services as well as life at Glenholme in general.

Glenholme Annual Fund
The foundation of all our fundraising efforts is the Glenholme Annual Fund. This fund is the primary source of unrestricted gifts allocated for the operations of the school. These gifts support current educational programs, research and creation of new programs, faculty development, and maintenance of facilities. Funds are allocated to the most critical needs throughout the year. Gifts to the Glenholme Annual Fund offset expenses not covered by tuition or endowment income. These gifts immediately benefit Glenholme and our students.
The Center for the Arts Endowment
The Center for the Arts has become home to Glenholme's theatre, art, dance and music programs. In addition, it is the one venue on campus with ample room to accommodate large events and performances in an indoor setting. The space includes a 299-seat proscenium theatre, backstage areas, music practice rooms, a costume workshop space, an art exhibition room and more. Gifts to The Center for the Arts Endowment help ensure the building will continue to be a focal point of students' lives at Glenholme.
Scholarship Program
Glenholme's scholarship program is a vital component of the school's ability to offer treatment and care to young people with learning differences who are unable to access programs that will improve their future in order to lead healthy and productive lives. Such funds will open the door to an abundance of successful programs that provide opportunities where learning is an inspiration and life's lessons are part of daily living experiences through the arts, equestrian, culinary, technology, community service, life skills development and more...
Gifts to the endowment fund ensure the future of Glenholme. These gifts provide financial stability, long range planning and continuity in proven educational excellence. The Alfred W. Van Sinderen Endowment Fund was established in 1999 to provide long term financial stability. This permanent capital fund provides planned financial resources year to year. Gifts to this fund provide student financial aid, funding for special programs and faculty support, as well as building and grounds preservation and improvement.

Planned Giving
Planned Giving is a process by which donors discuss and determine the most beneficial way to make a major gift along with identifying the proper asset to fund the gift. Planned gifts provide attractive tax advantages along with the satisfaction of advancing Glenholme's mission.
  • Name Glenholme in your will. After providing for your loved ones, you can bequeath Glenholme a percentage of your estate, a specific amount or the remainder of your estate. These gifts may be restricted or unrestricted as to their use.

  • Gifts that pay income. Some donors would like to make a substantial gift to Glenholme but are not willing to surrender current income or possible asset growth. Possible gifts include charitable gift annuities, charitable lead trusts and charitable remainder trusts. Tax benefits vary according to the type of gift.

  • Outright Gifts. Methods of making gifts with various tax advantages include real estate, life insurance, collectibles, and securities.

If you have already provided for Glenholme in your planning, we hope you will share your wishes with us. If you need more information or would like to schedule a time to talk, please contact the Development office at 860-868-7377 or by email to: the Development Office.
